Donington delivers a thrilling British F4 weekend
In the opening race of the weekend, Deagen Fairclough started from pole position alongside Rowan Campbell-Pilling, with Alex Ninovic and Yuanpu Cui on the second row. Leo Robinson and Kai Daryanani lined up on row three.
Alex Ninovic initially took the lead but an early safety car neutralized the advantage. When the race resumed, Ninovic led Fairclough, Campbell-Pilling, and Robinson.
After a short red flag, Ninovic re-established a gap of 1.7 seconds over Fairclough and held on to secure victory, Leo Robinson secured a podium finish, while Kai Daryanani came in fourth. Yuanpu Cui won the Rookie Cup, with Zack Scoular and Rowan Campbell-Pilling also on the podium.
James Higgins secured a thrilling victory in the re-run of Race Three at Donington Park. Starting from pole position, Higgins maintained a comfortable lead throughout the race, despite relentless pressure from Deagen Fairclough. Fairclough, determined to close the gap, pushed Higgins to the limit, but Higgins’s defensive skills and racecraft proved to be too much.
Jack Sherwood finished third, followed by Leo Robinson, Reza Seewooruthun, and Alex Berg. The re-run race was a thrilling affair, with several close battles throughout the field.
Yuanpu Cui won the Rookie Cup for the second time that day, with Zack Scoular and Martin Molnar completing the podium. The Rookie Cup competition continues to be fierce, with several drivers battling for top honors.
Rodin Motorsport’s James Higgins secured his second race win of the ROKiT British F4 Championship certified by FIA season, in the weekend’s reverse top 12 race at Donington Park’s GP circuit. Higgins managed to stretch his lead out to 3.2 seconds over Fairclough and Lloyd who both ultimately joined him on the podium. Kai Daryanani (Fortec Motorsport) came home fourth with Reza Seewooruthun (Hitech Pulse-Eight) in fifth.
The final race of the weekend saw Deagen Fairclough cross the line to win his 10th race of the 2024 ROKiT British F4 season, followed by Alex Ninovic in second and Rowan Campbell-Pilling taking his inaugural British F4 podium in third. Leo Robinson (JHR Developments) finished fourth with James Higgins rounding out the top five.
Round 9 of the ROKiT British F4 Championship will see the championship return to Silverstone, this time on the National circuit configuration on September 21-22 with Sunday’s action to be broadcast live on ITV4.
