Paul Holmes Clinches West Wales Rally Spares HRCR Stage Masters Championship
Paul Holmes, driving a Class D3 Ford Escort RS2000, has secured the 2024 West Wales Rally Spares HRCR Stage Masters championship after a consistent performance throughout the season. His commitment to entering events, excellent reliability, and steady approach have earned him the top prize.
While Holmes has clinched the driver’s title, the co-driver championship remains up for grabs. Guy Weaver still has a mathematical chance to overtake Elizabeth Beesely, Holmes’ current co-driver, at the final round of the Challenge on the Wyedean Stages in November.
In the class categories, Andrew Stokes and Jonny Tad Evans hold a strong lead in C5. However, a non-finish for them at the Wyedean Stages could open the door for Jonathan Brace and Paul Spooner, or even Toby Adam and Ian Meakin if they decide to convert their asphalt car for the forest event.
Graham Thatcher and Tim Samuel have already wrapped up the D4 class championship in their Triumph TR7 V8, securing the title at the Woodpecker Stages. In the C2 class, drivers Steven Powell and Freddie Camp are tied on points, while co-drivers Stephen Spear and Russell Joseph could still compete for the championship at the Wyedean Stages.
